The D-Day beaches, theater of June 6, 1944, are among the most moving memorial sites of the 20th century. Located 280 kilometers west of Paris, on the Normandy coast, they stretch over nearly 80 kilometers between the towns of Sainte-Marie-du-Mont (Utah Beach) and Ouistreham (Sword Beach). Our private full-day tour offers you the time needed to visit the major sites with contemplation.
The early morning departure (7am) lets you arrive at Omaha Beach by 10:30am. This iconic beach, nicknamed "Bloody Omaha" due to the American losses, is the emotional heart of your day. Nearby, the Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery, where 9,387 soldiers rest under a tide of white crosses facing the sea, is one of the most impressive places in the world. The daily flag-lowering ceremony (4pm) is a powerful moment.
In the afternoon, your driver takes you to the Pointe du Hoc, a strategic cliff scaled by the American Rangers, still marked by bomb craters. Then Arromanches, where the remains of the Mulberry artificial port endure, with its D-Day Museum. Depending on time available, Utah Beach, the Pegasus Bridge Memorial or the Longues-sur-Mer batteries can be added.
For lunch, we recommend a restaurant in Port-en-Bessin (Le Bayeux, La Marie du Port) or Bayeux. The return to Paris is in the late afternoon, around 7pm.
